Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate Lab Specialist - MLT to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Pontiac, MI. Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices to determine normal and abnormal components
• Analyze blood cells by counting and identifying cells using microscopic techniques and procedures
• Prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests
• Ensure operation of analyzers, spectrophotometers, colorimeters, flame photometers, and other laboratory equipment by calibrating and completing preventive maintenance
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and evaluate new equipment and techniques
• Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock levels, anticipating needed supplies, and placing orders
• Conserve laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently
• Provide medical technology information by answering questions and requests
• Prepare reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops and professional development
• Work in compliance with all established QA/QI standards
• Maintain safe and clean working environment and adhere to infection-control and hazardous waste policies
• Recognize problems, identify causes, and implement appropriate solutions
• Perform other related duties as required and directed
• Maintain current BLS certification
• Work every other weekend as scheduled
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in MI
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
