Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - L&D to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Bolivia, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby nursing care in LDRP unit with 1:4 patient ratios
• Assist with sterile speculum examinations including assessment of effacement, dilation, station, and presentation
• Utilize External Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM) and internal fetal monitoring systems
• Recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Provide breastfeeding support and lactation assistance to new mothers
• Maintain current BLS, AWHONN, and NRP certifications
• Document patient care using EPIC charting system
• Work night shifts (18:45-07:15) on 3x12-hour schedule
• Complete 2 mandatory call shifts per 6-week schedule
• Float to assist other units as needed based on census and skill sets
• Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Complete 32 hours of unit orientation and required training modules
• Perform couplet care for mothers and newborns 36 weeks gestation and up
• Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and pain management protocols
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and high-risk deliveries
• Provide newborn assessment, identification, and safety procedures
• Educate parents on discharge teaching, circumcision care, and car seat safety
• Manage postpartum hemorrhage protocols and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Maintain peripheral IVs and utilize infusion pumps and monitoring equipment
• Follow fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Complete compliance documentation and annual recertification requirements
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
