Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with physician to provide a plan of care that will return the patient to optimal health
• Provide bedside nursing care and carry out medical orders
• Delegate to and oversee Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Associate, OB Care Associate, Surgical Service Assistant, Nursing Clerk and Psychiatric Tech functions
• Evaluate effectiveness of care plan
• Assume responsibility for leadership role encompassing evidence-based knowledge integration into practice
• Delegate and coordinate tasks and assignments of nursing care
• Facilitate and participate in patient conferences
• Identify and provide means to meet patients' ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs
• Communicate with appropriate resource persons and attend discharge/transfer planning conferences
• Assume responsibility for professional growth by seeking educational opportunities
• Teach and guide professional and ancillary personnel
• Precept and mentor new employees and students
• Function as team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments
• Communicate relevant information in a manner that is understandable and effective
• Demonstrate organizational skills through effective planning
• Float to similar units as needed
• Work every other weekend
• Maintain ACLS, BLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in MI
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems [Epic, Cerner, etc. preferred]
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
