Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - PCU to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Salem, OR. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for patients in the neurotrauma care unit with brain or nervous system disorders including strokes, traumatic brain injuries, seizures, and spinal injuries • Maintain patient ratios of 1:3-4 patients • Manage cardiac drips including nitro, Cardizem, amiodarone, Nicardipine, heparin protocols, and ketamine drips • Interpret cardiac rhythms and manage dysrhythmias • Perform non-invasive airway management and oxygen administration protocols • Provide peripheral line care and management including PICC lines and central line care • Activate rapid response teams when clinically indicated • Perform bedside NG tube placements and feeding tube care • Manage lumbar drains and CSF drainage systems • Utilize Epic charting system for computerized documentation • Administer blood products and manage IV insulin protocols • Provide pre and post neurosurgery patient care including craniotomy patients • Perform NIHSS assessments and swallow screenings • Implement spine immobilization protocols • Manage patients with isolation precautions and proper PPE usage • Float to other units within the hospital or affiliate hospitals as needed • Work every other weekend as required • Complete non-billable training modules pre-start and annually • Provide care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services • Manage patients post cardiac angiogram, post MI, and post TPA care • Titrate insulin drips and cardiac medications as ordered • Handle substance withdrawal management and seizure disorder protocols
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in OR
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
