Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Neuro to join our growing clinician community. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct nursing care to Med Surg Neuro patients with 1:6 patient ratios • Care for stroke patients, neurosurgery patients, and patients with epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and other neurological diagnoses • Perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias • Administer blood products and manage central line care • Provide care for patients with CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries • Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips including titration responsibilities • Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation • Float to other Med Surg/Telemetry areas and COVID care units as required • Work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays • Complete 36 hours of unit orientation • Pass EKG testing prior to start date • Maintain current BLS certification and complete NIHSS training • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually • Provide non-invasive airway management and nasal cannula care • Implement isolation precautions when required • Participate in rapid response and code team situations • Make up any called-in shifts within the same week or at contract end • Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week • Work with interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and other support services
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
