Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg Tele to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Lubbock, TX. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care for adult patients in orthopedic trauma unit with diagnoses including MVAs, fractures, amputations, industrial accidents, gun shot wounds, cellulitis, and joint replacement surgery
• Manage patient ratios up to 1:6 on days, nights, and weekends
• Perform post-operative care management for surgical patients
• Administer blood products and manage blood administration protocols
• Provide wound care and wound vac management
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias using telemetry monitoring
• Manage peripheral line care and peripheral nerve block catheters
• Provide care for total joint replacement patients and manage traction equipment
• Administer oxygen therapy including nasal cannula, oxygen tanks, and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Perform phlebotomy and maintain isolation precautions as needed
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Participate in Rapid Response and Code team activities
• Perform patient lifting, transfers, and pressure injury prevention
• Operate specialized equipment including wound vacs, Buck's traction, CPMS, and high flow oxygen
• Float between sister facilities and affiliate hospitals as required
• Work weekends as needed according to unit requirements
• Commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Complete required pre-start and annual training modules
• Maintain current BLS certification and valid state licensure
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and transportation
• Adhere to facility dress code requiring solid navy blue scrubs for licensed nursing personnel
• Complete 12-hour orientation program
• Provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
• Self-report time spent on non-billable training modules
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in TX
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
