Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for medical-surgical patients with focus on neurological conditions • Maintain patient ratios of 1:6 during night shifts (18:45 - 07:15) • Utilize Epic documentation system for patient charting and communication • Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications • Complete EKG testing prior to start and demonstrate interpretation of dysrhythmias • Manage patients with cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) and other neurological diagnoses • Perform telemetry monitoring and manage cardiac dysrhythmias • Provide IV therapy including starting and maintaining peripheral lines • Manage non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula oxygen therapy • Implement and maintain isolation precautions as required • Float to other units within the hospital or affiliate facilities based on census needs • Work every other weekend (5-6 weekend shifts per contract) • Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable educational modules pre-start and annually • Participate in interdisciplinary patient care with IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and other support staff • Demonstrate teamwork approach to patient care and adherence to behavioral expectations • Complete 24-hour unit orientation upon assignment • Comply with fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days and 60 hours per week • Report to work during catastrophic events or disasters as part of Storm/Hurricane Team • Maintain valid nursing license (NC or Compact state) • Provide two manager/supervisor references from within past 12 months • Complete laboratory testing within 48 hours of contract signing • Accept charge nurse responsibilities when assigned (preferred experience) • Care for adult and geriatric patient populations in 24-bed neurological unit
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
