Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care in Med Surg unit with 1:6 patient ratios
• Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Float to other units within hospital or affiliate hospitals based on census and skill sets
• Work every other weekend as required
• Complete 24-hour unit orientation program
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with general medicine diagnoses, focusing on neurological conditions
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Demonstrate teamwork approach to patient care and focus on patient safety
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias using telemetry monitoring
• Provide care for patients with CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident)
• Manage peripheral lines and start/maintain IVs
• Implement isolation precautions as needed
• Provide non-invasive airway management including nasal cannula
• Work 3x12 hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters as part of Storm/Hurricane Team
• Complete compliance testing within 48 hours after contract signing
• Maintain valid NC or Compact state nursing license
• Provide two manager/supervisor references from past 12 months
• Accept charge nurse responsibilities when needed (preferred experience)
• Complete NIH stroke scale certification (preferred)
• Meet behavioral expectations in all interactions with patients and staff
• Adhere to call-off policy requirements
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
