Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 3x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide patient care for adults and geriatrics in Medical-Surgical unit with 1:6-7 patient ratios
• Work 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15) with charge nurse responsibilities required
• Maintain current BLS certification and complete required annual certifications
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Administer and monitor insulin drips and heparin drips
• Perform wound vac dressing changes and manage wound care
• Provide high flow oxygen therapy and BiPap respiratory support
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Manage peripheral line care and maintenance
• Implement isolation precautions as needed
• Float to similar units and alternate care locations within hospital or affiliate hospitals
• Work every other weekend and be available for call if put on prescheduled shift
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year)
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable pre-start and annual training modules
• Provide care for potential COVID patients when assigned
• Adhere to fatigue policy of no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week
• Pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Maintain valid nursing license (NC or Compact state)
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
