Position Summary:
VitalHire is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - Med Surg to join our growing clinician community. This high-impact opportunity offers a 4x12 Nights at a leading Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for Med/Surg and Telemetry patients with a patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias using telemetry equipment and remote monitoring systems
• Administer blood products and manage IV insulin protocols safely
• Provide colostomy care and feeding tube care and management
• Perform pre/post hemodialysis management for renal patients
• Perform central line blood draws and manage PICC lines
• Provide peripheral line care and management, phlebotomy, and IV insertion
• Administer heparin and manage PCA pumps
• Manage chest tubes using Emerson/Pleuravac systems
• Provide respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, and oxygen administration
• Perform non-invasive airway management and oral suctioning
• Implement isolation precautions and infection control measures
• Provide wound care and wound vac management
• Utilize Epic charting system for patient documentation
• Participate in Rapid Response Team activities and emergency situations
• Float between units within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
• Work 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15) for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Complete 12-16 weekend shifts per contract
• Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events
• Complete 24 hours of unit orientation and hospital orientation
• Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually
• Maintain BLS certification and valid nursing license
• Adhere to fatigue policy limitations (no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week)
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including diabetes, dementia, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and surgical recovery cases
Job Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered license in NC
- Minimum of 1-7 years of relevant experience, depending on specialty
- Current Certifications: BLS and/or ACLS, plus any specialty-specific requirements
- Experience with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, as applicable)
Other Required Documentation:
- Current Resume listing detailed work history (MM/YYYY format)
- Two current clinical references
- State-required professional license
- Physicial exam (completed within the past 12 months)
- TB skin test or Quantiferon Gold (within the past 12 months)
- Immunity Titers - MMR/Hep B/Varicella (declinations may be accepted)
- Current Tdap and Flu vaccinations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
